We have reviewed eleven Wuben lights across four years. This is the short version of what we learned, ranked by what we would actually spend money on.
Wuben sits in an awkward and useful spot. They are cheaper than Olight and Fenix, better built than the Amazon house brands, and their published specs mostly survive independent testing. The catch is that the lineup churns fast. Three of the models below have already been superseded, and one is a bad buy at any price.
Best overall: Wuben L1
$68.99. 2,000 lumens, 350 meters of throw, IP68, running on a user-replaceable 21700 at 4,800 mAh.
That last part is why it wins. Nearly every light in this price bracket seals the cell inside, which means the light dies when the battery does. The L1 takes a standard 21700 you can replace in five years for fifteen dollars. It also carries a second flood LED and will charge your phone off the same cell.
350 meters is real throw, not marketing throw. Nothing else in the Wuben catalog under $100 reaches that far.
Best value: Wuben B2
$33.99, regularly $68. 1,300 lumens, 280 meters, removable 18650, IP68, with published runtimes at both ends: 7 hours at 100 lumens, 1 hour at full 1,300.
Wuben sells this as a bike light and most people skip it for that reason. The light detaches from the mount and works as a handheld, which makes it the cheapest way into a 280 meter beam with a swappable cell. Published runtimes at both extremes is also rarer than it should be. Most brands quote the number that flatters them.
If you commute by bike, this is an easy call. If you do not, it is still the best specs-per-dollar in the lineup.
Best pocket EDC: Wuben C3
$29.99. 1,200 lumens, 179 meters, removable 18650 included, and it also runs CR123A. IP68. 4.34 ounces, 4.78 inches.
The CR123A compatibility matters more than the lumen count. It means the light works on primaries you can store for a decade, which is the whole argument for keeping one in a truck or a go-bag. Turbo holds 1,200 lumens for a minute and then settles at 500 for two and a half hours, which is honest thermal behavior for a tube this size.
Thirty dollars for a light with a replaceable cell and IP68 is the best entry point in the catalog.
Best headlamp: Wuben H1
$34.99. 1,200 lumens, 125 meters, removable 18650, 54 grams for the head unit.
The only headlamp Wuben has kept in the lineup this long, and it takes a standard cell, which most headlamps at this price do not. Wuben does not publish per-mode runtimes for it, which is a gap.
One thing to check before you buy: Wuben’s current product page lists USB-C charging, but independent reviews of shipping units describe micro-USB. We have not been able to reconcile the two. If a USB-C port matters to you, confirm with the seller.
Best keychain: Wuben G2
$23.99. 500 lumens, 46 meters, 28 grams, 58.5mm long, 70 hours on moonlight.
Twenty-eight grams is the number that matters on a keychain. The G5 ECL Anniversary Edition at $29.99 is the flatter, more pocketable shape and looks better, but it is rated IP65 against the G2’s tier and most of this lineup’s IP68. For a light that lives in a pocket with keys and lint, spend the six dollars saved elsewhere.
The halo light: Wuben X1
$199.99, marked down from $249.99. 12,000 lumens, 303 meters, fan-cooled, on two 21700 cells.
Independent testing measured 9,566 lumens at thirty seconds. For a 12,000 lumen claim that is unusually honest sustain, and it is the reason this light has a reputation. It is also 381 grams, which is most of a pound in your pocket.
Buy it if you want the party trick or you genuinely light up large outdoor spaces. It is not an everyday carry. Note that the X1 Pro has since arrived at 12,300 lumens with power bank output, so check the price gap before committing.
Do not buy the Wuben E61
$79.99 for 130 lumens.
That is the whole review. A 120 mAh battery, micro-USB charging, IP66, and no published throw or weight. The C3 costs $29.99 and puts out roughly ten times the light. The E61 is a pen that happens to have an LED in it, priced like a serious flashlight.
It is currently sold out on Wuben’s site with no successor listed, so this may resolve itself.
Models that have moved on
Three lights we reviewed are no longer what you would buy today:
- X2 now sits on a clearance page. The X2 Pro and X2 Pro+ carry the line. The original’s 2×14500 pack is not removable, which is hard to accept at up to $199 for the premium color variants.
- X0 survives mostly inside multi-light bundles rather than as a headline product. It also exists in both 900 and 1,100 lumen versions depending on the seller, so the model name alone does not tell you what you are getting.
- L50 is still sold and still fine at $35.99, but the C3 costs six dollars less and adds CR123A compatibility.
